How do I view patient encounters in MX Access?

You can view inpatient and outpatient encounter details, such as admission and discharge date, admit reason, and discharge disposition. To view encounters, please follow these steps:

1. Log in to MX Access. On the homepage, search for a patient by entering their name or MRN.

Note: You must enter a minimum of the patient’s First Name (at least 2 characters) AND the patient’s Last Name (at least 2 characters) or the patient’s MRN AND Facility. If you choose to enter both the Patient’s Name and the MRN/Facility, the system will default to display the results based on the MRN/Facility.

2. Select the patient of interest and click View Selected Patient Records.

3. In the left-hand toolbar, click Encounters.

4. A list of Hospital & ED Encounters and Outpatient Encounters will be displayed on the screen. Inpatient visits and visits to the ED will be displayed in the Hospital and ED table. Visits to a hospital, clinic, or associated facility that does not require an overnight stay will be displayed in the Outpatient table.

5. To see details related to insurance information provided during the encounter, hover over the Insurance icon .

Note: Claims-sourced insurance information is provided by the eligibility file.

6. By default, All Encounters will be displayed. However, you can filter the encounters by All Encounters, Clinically-Sourced Encounters Only or Claims-Sourced Encounters Only by selecting the radio button on the top-right hand side of the screen.
